The Value of a "Resale Rights" Product.
The Value of a "Resale Rights" Product.
by Zamri Nanyan
If you've been on the internet for quite some time, you'll
find a shocking revelation on how much a product is valued
by the sellers and the potential buyers.
It becomes more obvious if the product that is being sold
is a "resale rights" product.
For those who are not aware, a product with resale rights
is a product that you can buy and sell back to others based
on the terms and conditions set by the creator of the
product. Sometimes, you can resell the product with the
same price that you bought earlier.
It sounds great as you can cover back your investement with
only one sale. But, the ugly truth is about to be told.
If the "resale rights" product is being sold to a lot of
people and regardless if the product is good or not, you
as a reseller certainly face competition. It gets even
more competitive when the product becomes more popular or
widely spread in the market.
Here are two outcomes from this stiff competition:
1. There'll be resellers selling the product for a low
price that sometimes they violate the terms and
conditions set by the creator earlier.
2. Even worse, the product is given away for free, whether
it's done secretly or openly.
Now, directly or indirectly, that's how the resellers are
putting value on the product. The resellers might have their
own motives of doing so, like getting quick cash from the
product, building their mailing list more easily or just
because they don't value the product so high.
On the other hand, let's see what the potential buyers will
look at this product.
Some potential buyers see the product as the answer to
their problems. Once they knew that this product is a
"resale rights" product, a few "smart" ones will do a
search on Google or Yahoo to find a better deal for a
cheaper price or even for free.
That's fair enough as it is their rights to get the best
deal for their money.
But, the problem appears when the product which is supposed
to be sold is given away for free. This confuses the
potential buyers and it triggers a question in their mind
about the quality of the product and whether this product
will really solve their problems.
When there is an almost similar new product in the market,
it gets even worse. The next question will be, "why should
I get this new product when there's an old one like it?"
or "gosh, it's just another me-too product and they are
only after my money".
The truth can be the opposite. The new product could have
a premium quality and could really be an answer to their
problems, but because of the confusion, these potential
buyers become more and more skeptical.
It's no surprise when you hear that "nah, I don't want
to buy another AdSense ebook anymore. They are all the
same", when it is not the case.
In short, Internet is full of information and most of the
time, it's free for everybody. You can spend hours in the
online forums or asking questions to the right people and
you'll figure out the answers to some of your questions.
However, do you have the time to do that? Or, are you
willing to spend some money to cut short your research
on the topics you're looking for?
Be it "resale rights" or "non-resale rights" product, the
value of the product is there, regardless if the product
is sold at $997 or given away for free.
You should understand that the time, money and effort that
was put to create a product is something you don't always
see but taken for granted.
Create your own product and you'll know.
